Toyota Truck Comparison

So you're a Toyota fan, you think they are they make the best pickup trucks imaginable or maybe you have heard good things about them and want to give one a try. You know you want a pickup truck, but you?re not quite sure what's out there. Maybe you are one of the those guys that just loves the way a nice pick up looks or maybe you are one of the those guys that is going to using that truck bed everyday. For most of us we fall somewhere in between.

Because of this the range of what we need differs immensely. And Toyota has provided all sorts of options. But there are two main directions you head. The two main models of Toyota trucks are the Tacoma and the Tundra.

In general the Tundra is the more powerful, larger option and of course with these things the more expensive option. Where as the Tacoma in general is the smaller, less powerful option, but with these comes benefits too. It is typically the more affordable option with a starting price of about $8,000 less than the Tundra and about 5 mpg more than the Tundra.

Toyota

So lets talk about the Tacoma a little bit. The Tacoma at starts $15,345, this is a two door regular cab. The engine is a 2.7-liter DOHC EFI 4-cylinder with VVT-I, with 159 hp and 180 lb.-ft. It is 5-speed manual transmission that gets 20 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway. It has maximum towing capacity 3500lb and it also has a 4x4 upgrade option.

You also have 3 other body styles for the Tacoma, the Access cab, which is a 2 door with a little room to shove a couple people back the if you need. The Tacoma Double Cab, which can comfortably sit 5, this is the largest size cab for the Tacoma. The last option is the Tacoma X-runner.

The Tacoma X-runner is the option you want if you are looking for style. It comes with 4.0 L V6 6-speed manual transmission and it just looks good. Unfortunately it does not come with a 4x4 option and is a little lower to the ground than the other models. It focuses more on looks than usability. It starts at $25,460.

The Access Cab is a good option if you want a little bigger cab and more power. It starts at 19,380. At this price it has it has the smaller 2.7-liter 4 cylinder engine, but can be upgraded to the 4.0 L V6 for about $2,000. It also has a 4x4 upgrade option.

The Double Cab starts at $23,675 and comes with the 4.0L V6. With this engine it has a towing capacity of 6500lb. It also has a 4x4 upgrade option.

Tundra

Now with the Tundra. The starting price for the Regular Cab Tundra is $23,455 that gets 15 mpg in town and 19 mpg highway. It has a 4.0L V6 with 236 hp and 5200lb towing capacity.

The Double Cab starts at $25,795 with a nice sized cab and the same 4.0L V6 the Regular Cab has.

The CrewMax starts at $28,769, and cabs don?t get any bigger that what this pickups got, it is meant to be comfortable. It comes with a slightly bigger engine, a 4.6L V8 with 310hp and 7000lb towing capacity.

All three models have options to upgrade to 4x4 and upgrade options to 5.7L V8 and 5.7L V8 FFV. These have 381hp and 10500lb towing capacity.
